If you need a robust reinforcement mesh for industrial purposes, where the concrete slab is at least 200mm deep, you can’t go wrong with A393 grade. Concrete is great for resisting compression, but it’s not so good at handling tension, which makes it prone to cracking under shear stress. By adding the right amount of steel reinforcement, you can prevent this problem and create a slab that is strong, durable, and long-lasting. A393 mesh is the best reinforcement product for those tough commercial projects.
A393 mesh is a type of welded steel rebar mesh fabric that consists of 10mm deformed steel rebar. It has longitudal and latitudal H10 rebar wires, with a gap (the space between the wires) of 200mm x 200mm. The ‘393’ indicates the cross sectional area per metre width, which essentially means how much steel ‘reinforcement’ per metre width. This figure would vary depending on the size of the gap and the diameter of the steel rebar. For example, A252 is another type of mesh with the same gap size, but with 8mm steel rebar instead of the 10mm steel rebar used in A393.
A 393 rebar mesh is suitable for heavy-duty reinforcement of concrete elements, such as slabs and walls. Flat sheets are used in the building of driveways, building floors, and foundation slabs.
The standard size of A393 mesh sheets is 4.8 metres by 2.4 metres. However, there are also other options available, such as Merchant sized sheets (which are 3.6 metres by 2.0 metres), and what is often called ‘Safety Size’ sheets, which are 2.4 metres by 1.2 metres.
