B503 mesh is a type of structural mesh that is designed for heavy duty applications with a rectangular aperture. It is made of high-quality steel wires that are welded together at each intersection to form a strong and rigid grid. B503 mesh can be used for various purposes, such as reinforcing concrete slabs, walls, foundations, bridges, tunnels, and other structures that require high load-bearing capacity and durability. B503 mesh is also easy to install and cut to size, making it a versatile and cost-effective solution for any construction project.
Reinforcement mesh is a common form of steel reinforcement in the UK, accounting for nearly a quarter of all steel reinforcement used. There are various grades of mesh available, each with different strengths and structural properties, to suit different types of construction projects. B503 reinforcement mesh is one of the mesh grades that belong to the structural mesh category. Structural meshes have the main reinforcement in one direction only, unlike square meshes that have equal reinforcement in both directions.
This mesh has longitudinal wires with a nominal pitch of 100mm and transverse wires with a nominal pitch of 200mm. The wire diameters for both the longitudinal and transverse wires are 8mm for B503 mesh. Some structural mesh grades may have different wire diameters for the longitudinal and transverse wires, depending on the required strength.
B503 mesh is a medium-grade structural mesh, widely used in commercial and civil engineering projects, as well as in domestic builds, where structural reinforcement is needed. The appropriate grade of steel reinforcement should always be specified in the project plans drawn up by structural engineers, to ensure that the desired tensile strength is achieved in every slab or component of the build.
Reinforcement mesh panels should always be tied securely in place using suitable fastening products, and supported from below to ensure that the mesh panels are level. Reinforcement mesh should always be positioned so that a minimum of 50mm of concrete depth is achieved below and above the mesh panels.
B503 mesh is available in standard and merchant sheet sizes, weighing 5.93kg per m2. This gives a standard sheet weight of 66.66kg and a merchant sheet weight of 51.25kg. The mesh we supply conforms to BS4483:2005 and is quality assured by us, providing total confidence for anyone involved in the planning and procurement of concrete reinforcement products.
We only sell what we stock. So we’re able to dispatch immediately. We have trucks running up and down the country almost every day, meaning that there’s a good chance we can fit your order in with low lead times. Once you send a quote request, we’ll call you back and discuss delivery times with you.
Of course. We supply tradesmen on small local jobs, and contractors working on large-scale projects alike.
Simply fill out a quote request and we’ll call you immediately. If it’s during normal office hours (7:30am to 4:00pm) we’ll likely call within minutes.
Our premises are located in the Midlands (Swadlincote, to be exact). Which is a perfect position for our UK-wide delivery service.
